Bret Hart would become a two-time Federation Champion in 2008, but not quite in the way he would've hoped. Hart
would defend his newly won title against Steve Austin at Terminal Solution, barely escaping the wrath of
The Rattlesnake with the timely assistance of brother Owen Hart. Raven would be the next in line at
La Mala Sombra, but that match would also be laden with controversy when
James Ace showed up to attack Raven. Hart would lose for the second time in a row by disqualification on
pay-per-view, but he was still the PWF Champion ... or so he thought. After
Ace's interference, PWF president Bobby Heenan came out of the back and took the title away from Hart without saying a word. The world would have to wait for any light to be shed on the issue until the following week on
Wargames, where Heenan revealed how tired he was of superstars taking matters into their own hands in his federation and interrupting matches whenever they please. He was also tired of what people were saying about
Hart remaining champion without beating his opponents, but he ultimately decided to abide by the
long-standing rules and reinstate the Hit Man as PWF Champion.
