DEL WILKES
PWF Champion
Aug. 30, 2006 - Sept. 6, 2006

New PWF commissioner Jim Ross announced that, at La Mala Sombra, PWF Champion Mr. Perfect would defend the title against a mystery opponent and provided the names of five men. James Ace, Del Wilkes, Greg Mills, The Rock, and Sean Gunn were the possible opponents for the champion -- all five were considered opposition of high caliber. In Monterrey, Mexico, Perfect went to the ring and awaited his opponent, who turned out to be one of the few men Mr. Perfect had never defeated -- Dangerous Del Wilkes -- known to some as The Dark Patriot.

Wilkes seemed on the verge of capturing the title that very night, but before he could finish off the champion, the entire Perfect Team hit the ring, one at a time, and eventually caused a disqualification. TDP was able to fight them off and stand tall at the end of the night, though, and it was soon after announced that he would get a rematch at Fall Battle Fields. However, one week before the show, Dangerous Del was the victim of a PT sneak attack, which left him so incensed that he stormed into the office of PWF owner and president Eric Bischoff, demanding the match take place one week early. Bischoff agreed, but with two conditions. First, it would be a Lumberjack match, with the Perfect Team as the lumberjacks ... and second, if Wilkes lost, he would not get another shot at Perfect or the PWF title for one full year.

With all of this riding on his shoulders, Wilkes stepped into the ring against Mr. Perfect, ready to do whatever it took to become the PWF Champion or virtually die trying. The Perfect Team took heavy liberties in the match, attacking Wilkes at every opportunity and preventing him from ever building any momentum. As Perfect seemingly had everything well in-hand on the way to another successful defense, the PWFTron came to life. The PT assembled at the bottom of the entrance ramp, ready to stop whoever was about to come out, but, in the process, Wilkes was able to catapult a stunned Perfect into the ringpost -- rendering him unconscious -- and cover him for the pinfall.

According to the PWFTron, Del Wilkes was "One Step Ahead." And according to senior referee Earl Hebner, he was the new Professional Wrestling Federation Champion.
