RAVEN PWF Champion Jul. 4, 2007 - Jul. 25, 2007
Immediately after James Ace's Federation Championship victory, a singles match between Raven and John Cena was signed to determine
the first man to get a shot at the Rated R leader. The controversial VCW lawsuit hit before the match was to take place, and so it
was
subsequently never aired. During that match, though, Raven defeated Cena after botched interference by Ace. During the hiatus
caused by the lawsuit, Raven announced that he had in fact been granted the first shot against Ace, although this turned out not
to be the whole story. On the first Wargames back from the lawsuit, Commissioner Jim Ross publicly revealed Ace's role in
Raven's
victory back in December and declared that Cena still deserved a chance at a title shot as a result. Thus, Raven and Cena went
at it once again, in a match where if Cena won, there would be a Triple Threat PWF title match at Terminal Solution. This
time around,
the Doctor of Thuganomics picked up the win, and to make matters even more interesting, in the weeks leading up to the encounter,
the PWF announced that the match would take place inside the three-tier Doomsday Cage.
As any longtime fan would have expected, the match between Ace, Cena, and Raven at Terminal Solution was chaotic and
violent.
In many ways, it echoed their epic Ladder match from Nuclear Frost. Ace and Raven battled high atop the structure, and --
seizing
an opportunity -- Cena shoved Ace into Raven, sending Raven hurtling to the arena floor. Unbelievably, when Ace saw that Raven was
still moving, he leapt off the cage himself, just to do more punishment to his hated enemy. After what seemed like an eternity,
both Raven and Ace began making their way back into the Doomsday Cage, as Cena looked on in shock that they were still functioning.
In an attempt to finish the match, Cena locked the STF-U onto Raven, who showed just how painful the hold was to him ... by
laughing. Even so, he was very nearly unconscious when, suddenly, Ace dropped a huge elbow onto Cena, breaking the hold. With all
three men nearly out of their feet, they continued to battle it out, with every move potentially the last.
Cena looked to be about to finish Raven off, having nailed him with the Freestyle. As he prepared to deliver the Five Knuckle
Shuffle, Ace dove from the second cage into the first with an amazing cross-body splash. However, showing incredible strength,
Cena caught him and dropped the champion flat on his back with the F-U. As he went for the cover, Raven sprang into action and
destroyed Cena with his Even Flow DDT. Dropping his knees across Ace's chest, Raven held his arms wide as the referee registered
the three-count. With a sympathetic Philadelphia crowd cheering him on, Raven stared down at his newly won PWF Championship, and on
the fourth of July, the Year of the Raven had truly begun.
