RAVEN
PWF Champion
Nov. 12, 2007 - Dec. 5, 2007

On the same night that Shane Douglas won his first PWF Championship, Raven began the march towards his second. Entering the Battle Field with a sense of purpose, Raven laid waste to anyone in his way, with the epic bout coming down to him and Lance Storm, the same man who had battled Douglas for the title earlier in the evening. Raven managed to eliminate him, setting the WrestleFest III main event ... pending the Road To Perdition event and War Games. With Douglas' title and Raven's shot on the line in that brutal cage match, anything could have happened, and indeed nearly did, when Rated R leader James Ace broke into the cage during the match, using his protective cast as a weapon. However, Ace's attempt at chicanery would work against his team in the end, when Batista threatened to break his arm again if Chris Benoit did not submit. Thus, it was set in stone -- Raven and Shane Douglas would go to war in the Auburn, Ala., home of the Tigers, Jordan-Hare Stadium.

And go to war they did. Neither man was willing to give a single inch in this competition, as they fought as fiercely as anyone had ever seen. The match defied description and could have ended on many occasions with either man coming out victorious. But once again, just as at Terminal Solution, destiny seemed to be on the side of the Raven. In the weeks prior to the match, Raven had obtained the services of Johnny Asterix as his manager, and it was clear that the kingbuilder had advised him well on how best to survive Douglas' attacks. As Douglas went for his Perfect Plunge, Raven used the momentum of the move to his advantage, catching The Franchise with a well-placed knee that knocked him off balance, and drove the champion's head into the mat with a truly devastating Even Flow. Moments later, the three-count had been registered, and the Year of the Raven was set to begin anew.
