SHAWN MICHAELS
PWF Champion
Dec. 7, 2005 - Jan. 18, 2006

It didn't take long for opponents to start coming out of the woodwork to challenge new champion John Cena. Mike Sanders, Cena's rival from the late summer and early fall months, was quick to point out that not only had Cena never been able to pin him, but that he had actually defeated Cena in a Steel Cage match. Based on all of this, Sanders was granted a future title match. Also in line for title shots were Chris Jericho and former PWF Champion Lance Storm.

However, before Cena could defend against any of those men, he would have to face the Lethal Lottery at Nuclear Frost. In a Triple Threat match, SuperStar Stevie Richards of the bWo and Shawn Michaels of D-Generation X were drawn as his opponents, and -- in a shocking twist -- Michaels was victorious after some controversial happenings. The Lethal Lottery proved just how "lethal" it could be, as Shawn Michaels' capturing of the PWF title won a Slammy Award for co-Most Unbelievable Moment of 2005.
