EXCELLENCE PWF Cruiserweight Champion Jun. 28, 2006 - Jun. 28, 2006
It was a surprise to PWF fans for the newcomer to be so dominant as Cruiserweight Champion, but that's exactly what
took place after The Kid won the title. Successful title defenses began to pile up on his record, and Johnny Walker began to delight in leaving fans with a memorable moment in every match he had. At
Power Trip, he sacrificed his own body to lay out Matt Hardy with a Shooting Star Press through a table on the outside of the ring, ending the match in a double countout, but giving everyone in attendance something to remember him by. Perhaps his greatest defense, though, came at
Recoil, where he held the Johnny Walker Cruiserweight Open, a special Gauntlet match where he sought to defeat all the other cruiserweights in the PWF in succession. Amazingly, he won. Enter Eric Bischoff. As part of a pre-Recoil tag team match, Excellence won "a title shot" to be
claimed after Recoil. Of course, Bischoff ultimately decided that this
shot would be for Walker's Cruiserweight title, not Mr. Perfect's PWF
Championship as everyone had previously assumed. Neither Walker nor Excellence
seemed to have a personal issue with the other, but with Walker's title and
Excellence's reputation at stake, both men made it clear that they would not
back down. The match itself was incredible, pitting two champions against one
another, with Walker taking his game to a level he had never been forced to
reach before, keeping the multiple-time World Champion and current
Intercontinental Champion on his toes throughout the contest. As Excellence went
for the Perfectbuster, Walker caught him in a roll-up, but Excellence managed to
reverse it for the pinfall. Excellence won the Cruiserweight title but would have no time to celebrate; Eric Bischoff immediately came out and stripped him of
it, declaring it vacant and defunct.
