KURT ANGLE
PWF Television Champion
Sept. 25, 2008 - Nov. 5, 2008

"Diamond" Dallas Page was in the midst of the second-longest Television Championship reign (85 days) of his career when he squared-off with newcomer Kurt Angle in September of 2008. Angle was a rookie that was red-hot upon his arrival, impressing many with his debut Battle Field performance and his Olympic ability in the ring. The Sept. 25 edition of Wargames was Angle's first shot at gold, just three weeks into his PWF career, and he came fully prepared to make good on the opportunity. Trying to win the gold from the well-established DDP was something easier said than done, but Angle was up to the task. Maybe overreaching a little, Angle went for a moonsault late that crashed onto nothing but mat, and just when Page looked to be going for the dangerous Diamond Cutter, the lights went out. When they came back on, Page was out cold on the mat and Angle was lying on top of him. Tim White made the count, the match was over, and Angle won the title in one of the most shocking moments of the year. Page spent his time afterwards trying to track down the man responsible, and Angle spent his time trying to prove he was worthy of the title.
