During the lengthy layoff caused by the PWF/VCW lawsuit, speculation abounded as to how the next PWF Television Champion would be
crowned. Knowing Eric Bischoff, it was unlikely to be what anybody expected. Many thought a battle royal would take place, or
perhaps that two former Television Champions would square off for the title. When the lineup for the first Wargames after the
lawsuit was announced, some felt that the bout between Steve Austin and Edge would end up as a title match. When this match turned
out to be a King of the Ring qualifier instead, that idea was dashed. Instead, after newcomer The Spoiler defeated Sid Vicious on
that same program, Mr. Bischoff appeared and congratulated him on becoming the new Television Champion. Indeed, just as the first
Television Champion was crowned two years prior, the title win was a surprise to everyone -- except for Mr. Bischoff.
