TRISH STRATUS
PWF Women's Champion
Nov. 2, 2009 - Dec. 7, 2009

Under the match agreement between then-champion Maryse and Kimona Wanayala for WrestleFest V, Kimona, should she win, would be awarded a title reign in the history books for her one-night-only return to the sport; the title itself would revert back to Maryse since Kimona wouldn't be around to defend it. After WrestleFest and her victory, though, Kimona decided to stick around, which would create some confusion about the status of the championship. She felt she deserved to be the new holder of the title and not Maryse, despite their agreement, since she defeated Maryse and had decided to remain on the active roster. Maryse debated this idea, stating that since the original agreement was for Kimona to return for one match and not for good, her decision to stay was not a fair reason to not revert the title back to Maryse. Eric Bischoff made an official decision and said that the title would not be returning to Maryse ... but that Kimona would also not be Women's Champion. He awarded the title to Trish Stratus. This dumbfounded both Maryse and Kimona, but Bischoff reasoned that Trish -- who had won a Divas Battle Royal at WrestleFest V -- deserved the title more than either of them due to her winning the battle royal. "What's done is done," as he told them, and Trish was officially made the new Women's Champion, as controversial a decision as it might have been.
