CHRIS BENOIT & JOHNNY WALKER World Tag Team Champions Aug. 22, 2008 - Sept. 3, 2008
The Decline of Civilization fended off a challenge from Fire & Ice at Terminal Solution, surviving
with the titles by walking out on the match. They were able to keep the
championship as a result, but their next challenge from the unlikely team of Chris Benoit and Johnny Walker would prove to be even harder to overcome. In the midst of Walker and
Benoit both dealing with issues with the Triple Threat, being on the same side of the war brought them together, and on the Aug. 22 edition of
Wargames, it also brought an opportunity to win the World Tag Team
Championship. The Triple Threat would also be coming after the gold, as well as
the "rich man" team of Ted DiBiase and JBL. The Decline of Civilization were no strangers to any of these three teams. The team with the best shot of dethroning the champions going in had to be the members from the Triple Threat,
"Diamond" Dallas Page and Lance Storm, but it would be the crowd-pleasing mix of styles from Benoit and Walker that
walked out with the victory. Chaos ensued late in the match, with participants from each team trying to get
the "last word." A Storm Superkick to Heidenreich opened Storm up to a Clothesline from Hell by JBL,
who in turn got caught in a Crossface seconds later. JBL tapped out to the excruciating move, and the
crowd roared as the unlikely team of Benoit and Walker were now World Tag Team
Champions.
