SCW DOUBLE JEOPARDY 1998 »                         SCW DOUBLE JEOPARDY 2000 »

Seven years before the PWF, the first Doomsday Cage match took place for the the Intercontinental Championship. In the end, the 12-man bout came down to Excellence, the Ultimate Warrior, and Lex Luger, who had become a member of the Perfect Team earlier in 1998. Some say Luger had the match won when he managed to capture Warrior in his Torture Rack, but it was not to be -- Excellence jealously shoved Luger down. From there, Warrior clotheslined Excellence out of the ring and into the cage, before going on to pin Luger.
In 2000, Buff Bagwell made his unexpected return to wrestling for two reasons: "unfinished business" with Excellence and to become the SCW World Champion. Excellence wanted Bagwell in the Doomsday Cage, and SCW owner James Ace signed it. In the end, though, the brutal contest would have an X-factor. The Patriot would kick his way into the cage and land a flying headbutt on the downed Bagwell, a move that would be the deciding blow. Moments later "The Patriot" would unmask, revealing himself to be Chris Benoit.

It was a match that had to happen. The Ultimate Warrior wanted to put an end to Excellence's ranting and raving about 1998's Doomsday Cage match, and Excellence wanted Warrior once more. The PWF wanted to showcase the conclusion to a war long unsettled. There would be a clear-cut winner. Lex Luger wouldn't be there this time. Warrior's own devices, though, would cost him -- he set a tombstone up in the ring, but it would be a piece of that stone block that Excellence would use, followed by a Perfectbuster, to slay the Ultimate Warrior.
After their PWF Championship clash ended in a DQ, Mr. Perfect and Raven's rematch would occur in the Doomsday Cage just shy of one month later. Many insiders and fans thought that the violent and sadistic Raven had the advantage going into the contest, thinking the Doomsday Cage would negate Perfect's superior technical-wrestling ability. The flawless one, though, would show a mean-streak he never had before, betraying best friend Excellence prior to the match and then defeating Raven with the most vicious performance of his career.

The match between PWF Champion James Ace, Raven, and John Cena was chaotic and violent. At one point, Ace and Raven battled atop the structure, and Cena shoved Ace into Raven, sending Raven to the floor. Ace saw he was moving so he leapt off the cage to do more damage. When Raven and Ace made their way back into the cage, Cena was shocked. Later, as Cena went for the Five Knuckle Shuffle, Ace dove from the second cage; Cena caught him with an F-U. Raven then destroyed Cena with an Even Flow and pinned Ace.
The first-ever tag team match in Doomsday Cage history was the idea of Triple Threat member Diamond Dallas Page. He wanted the World Tag Team titles that belonged to Steve Austin and Edge put on-the-line in a Six-Man Tag, feeling as though they were stolen from the Triple Threat. PWF president Bobby Heenan liked DDP's idea and named PWF Champion Raven as Austin and Edge's partner. In the end, Raven would Even Flow Shane Douglas through a table covered in barbed wire, perhaps ending their Blood Feud once and for all.
