The Professional Wrestling Federation's weekly, flagship
program is a two-hour event that is televised live in front of an always sold-out arena crowd.
The debut episode of Wednesday Wargames aired on March 16, 2005, on FX and drew huge ratings. Couple
that with the unbelievable success of the PWF's first pay-per-view event, No
Escape, on April 6, and News Corporation's FOX Entertainment Group decided
to make a change. Wednesday Wargames would be moved from their FX cable
channel to their main network vehicle, FOX. This change put Wargames and
the Professional Wrestling Federation into major network television on April
13, 2005. The ratings have remained dominant. The original voices of Wednesday Wargames were Jim Ross and
Jerry "The King" Lawler. While Lawler remained on the broadcast team, J.R.
was fired by Eric Bischoff for making negative statements towards his obvious
alliance with the Perfect Team. He was replaced in the booth
by "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, who was later replaced by "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes.
Shortly after Bobby Heenan became president of the PWF, J.R. returned to
Wargames as its lead announcer.
